How to Change the Classification System of a Pipe Fitting in Revit

There are two possible fixes that can help when a pipe fitting needs to be switched from an incorrect System Classification. The System Classification will normally be greyed out so switching directly is not possible.

  1. Disconnect the pipe from the pipe fitting and reconnect. Try re-connecting additional sides if the first side didn’t work.
  2. While hovering over the element with the wrong classification, press the Tab key as many times as needed until the system becomes selected. The system is selected when a dashed line box appears and will also highlight in your System Browser (press keyboard shortcut F9, or choose View tab -> Window panel -> User Interface -> System Browser). Once selected, press the Delete key which will delete the System. Reconnect the piping.
