Leading the BIM Way: Creating Precise Contract Requirements

Geraldine Rayner, Managing Principal, Summit BIM and Scott Chatterton, BIM Technical Director at Virtual Construction and Technology BIM One Inc sat down at the Agora BIM 2021 event on April 7, 2021 to discuss how to create precise BIM contract requirements.
Vague obligations and undefined contract terms can result in (sometimes wildly) different expectations of what the BIM deliverable on a project is. Using BC Housing’s Vienna House – a multi-residential, affordable housing project – as a case study, they addressed how absolute clarity in BIM requirements and definitions reduces project risk and aligns expectations. This session provides insight into how to create owner-driven BIM requirements that can be attached to RFPs, common issues, and practical tips for change management.
