Summit BIM Awarded BIM Consulting Contract for the Dalhousie University Event Centre
With more than 20,000 students on campus, Dalhousie University already boasts some world-class facilities. However, for nearly a decade, it did not have an arena complex on campus. All that is set to change with the approval of a new Dalhousie Event Centre on Halifax’s Studley Campus.
Eager to ensure that Dalhousie’s use of BIM continues to evolve, the Facilities Management team has enlisted Summit BIM’s services to manage and monitor the BIM implementation on the project.
Working closely with the Dalhousie team, Summit BIM will:
- Support the integration of BIM requirements into the project RFI and assess the proponents’ BIM readiness.
- Ensure compliance with the BIM specifications with compliance reviews and reporting.
- Generate a design asset registry.
- Collect data and documentation through the design and construction phase with the cloud-based BIMFMI platform.
- Ensure that BIM processes and benefits are realized through the facility lifecycle.
“Having developed BIM specifications requirements for Dalhousie to support their BIM goals from Procurement, through Design and Construction and on into Facilities Maintenance and Operations requirements, we are well placed to support their continued BIM journey,” says Geraldine Rayner, Managing Principal, Summit BIM. “Our collaborative, innovative approach marries well with Dalhousie’s desire to get the most from a BIM process.”
“We’re really impressed with the BIM specifications requirements that we now have in place. This is a testament to the hard work done by our team and Summit BIM,” says Alex Walker, Director, Projects, Dalhousie University. “We’re proud and pleased to be able to apply this work to upcoming projects and look forward to delivering the new event centre with the BIM data confidently aligned with the needs of our facilities management team.”
